Geoff Trapani, President
As President of Ontario Professional Firefighters Local 1430, I am honored to represent our members and highlight our dedication to community outreach, charity, and hard work.
We believe a strong community is built on trust, engagement, and education. Through programs like Stop the Bleed, Hands-Only CPR, and drowning prevention, we aim to prevent emergencies before they happen.
Our 501(c)(3), the Ontario Professional Firefighters Foundation, ensures 100% of donated funds stay in Ontario or help fire families in need. Annual events like our golf tournament and Stuff the Bus raise over $100,000 thanks to our members and your support.
We train relentlessly to protect Ontario’s citizens while also advocating for fair wages, safety, and resources for our firefighters. Partnering with city leadership, we remain committed to public service and community well-being.
Thank you for your trust and support!
Sincerely,
President, Ontario Professional Firefighters Association

⚾ 💥 This week marks one year since our Javan Settles Memorial Softball Tournament — a day where Ontario firefighters, Ontario Police, and Long Beach Firefighters came together in support of Javan’s daughters and the family he loved.
Moments like this are a reminder that the job extends beyond the call — it’s about showing up for one another, on and off duty, especially when it matters most. We carry that same commitment into every response, every shift, and every opportunity to take care of our own and the community we serve. 🤝

☎️ In an emergency, public safety telecommunicators are responsible for far more than answering the phone. They gather critical details, verify locations, assess urgency, relay information to field units, provide pre-arrival instructions, and coordinate the response while events are still unfolding in real time.
This week, we’re grateful for the calm, skill, and steady presence they bring to every call, especially when clear direction and quick judgment matter most. 🚒💨

🔥 Early this morning, at 12:30 AM, our firefighters responded to a massive 6-alarm commercial structure fire near Hellman and Merrill Avenues, where more than 140 personnel worked in a coordinated defensive operation to contain the incident and protect surrounding properties.
The 1.2 million-square-foot Kimberly-Clark distribution warehouse — filled with paper goods that rapidly fueled fire growth — was ultimately a total loss, with crews forced to operate from the exterior due to unsafe interior conditions; the cause is under investigation.
All employees were safely evacuated and no injuries have been reported, but smoke and ash continue to impact the surrounding area — residents, especially children and seniors, are encouraged to remain indoors if possible and avoid the area while crews continue operations.
🗓️ We are 4️⃣ days out from our 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic at El Prado Golf Course — and it’s shaping up to be a great Friday of golf, strong company, breakfast and lunch, and a few Local 1430 touches along the way.
This tournament brings together our firefighters, local partners, and the Ontario community to raise funds that go right back into the city we serve. If work or scheduling has held you back, there’s still time to join us — registration stays open until 7 AM the morning of April 10. 🔗📲
Easter weekend often means busy kitchens, more kids around pools, and heavier traffic in neighborhoods and shopping areas. A few simple precautions can go a long way in helping families across Ontario celebrate safely:
▪️ Food safety: Keep hot foods hot, cold foods cold, and refrigerate perishables promptly.
▪️ Water safety: Keep eyes on children near water.
▪️ Traffic safety: Slow down, stay alert in neighborhoods, and never drive impaired.
From our firefighters to the Ontario community, have a safe Easter weekend. 🐰🪺
